Tara Bayat is a New York based producer/editor. After graduating Purchase College, SUNY with a B.A. in Cinema Studies, she worked as an assistant lecturer at her alma matter, and as an apprentice and assistant editor on narrative feature films. She is currently a producer and editor at Complex Media.
Tara spent her childhood in Cairo, the city where she was first consumed by her love of cinema; intoxicated by both the old Egyptian films on TV, and the films of 20th Century Hollywood. She moved to The Hague in 2003 where she continued her appreciation of the medium, and identified that her taste was somewhere between the works of Judy Garland, Robert Altman and Youssef Chahine. It was post college when she started making music videos, mostly for local Brooklyn artists. Since then she has used the practice of making music videos as a way to experiment with form.
